Fixed-Route Service

Ten fixed routes service much of Bay County, including the communities of Bay City, Essexville, Kawkawlin, Linwood, Pinconning, Auburn, and University Center (home of Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University). The routes run on 1-hour headways (schedules) departing from the Central Bus Station (CBS) located at 1124 Washington Avenue in downtown Bay City. Monday through Friday, the first buses depart from the CBS at 6:15 am and the last bus departs at 5:15 pm. On Saturdays, eight fixed routes run with the first buses departing the CBS at 9:15 am and the last bus departing at 5:15 pm. (Route #1 has a revised schedule on Saturdays) 
NEIGHBORING COUNTY TRANSITS

Bay Metro Transit offers regional connections with public transit systems in surrounding counties as well.

BMTA Route #4 makes several trips on weekdays to the University Center. Transfers to the Saginaw transit system (STARS) take place at Saginaw Valley State University. STARS information can be obtained by calling (989) 753-9500 or visit their website:  Saginaw Transit 

If Bay County residents  need transportation to/from Midland, Bay Metro Dial A Ride is available for pick up/drop off at the Midland Salvation Army, 330 Waldo Ave to transfer to Route #4 in Auburn.  Prior reservations are required by calling 989-894-0631 (See How To Schedule A Ride To/From Midland under the Dial-A-Ride section).  Transportation within Midland County needs prior reservations with the Midland city Dial-A-Ride and Midland County Connection. BMTA Route #1 makes 12 trips to Pinconning each weekday. If a passenger needs transportation to/from Arenac County, they may schedule a pick up/drop off with Arenac Transit Authority (ATA) at the Pinconning Gazebo on Third Street.  Prior reservations are required by calling ATA 989-846-7500 or visit their website:  Arenac Transit Authority

INDIAN TRAILS

Connections to points throughout North America are available through Indian Trails, Inc, a private intercity bus company that operates out of the CBS along with Bay Metro Transit. The terminal’s agent can provide tickets and route information for Bay Metro Transit, as well as provide tickets for Indian Trails. Dial-A-Ride (Bay Dart) Service

Bay Metro Transit provides curb-to-curb service for senior citizens and disabled residents who are unable to use the fixed route system.  Bay Dart is also an ADA Paratransit service for those individuals whose disability or feature of the fixed route service makes the fixed route service inaccessible.  Seniors will need to provide proof of age.  Persons seeking eligibility for Bay Dart will need to be certified.  Bay Dart service is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

The Bay Dart cash fare is $1.50 per trip for seniors and the disabled. All others pay $3.00 per ride, but may schedule rides only after all senior/disabled demands are met. Reservations for rides must be made at least one day in advance.

Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

*Student fare is for school-age children and adults with Student ID card

***Disabled fare is for individuals with Medicare or ADA ID cards, or any State or Federal ID designating an individual as disabled.
Note: No reduced rates are based on an individual’s income.
–Free Half-Fare ID/Universal Reduced Fare cards are available at Bay Metro Transit.
